Union pulls out of downtown Mpls. Murray's Restaurant

An internal union struggle at Murray's Restaurant, the iconic steakhouse in downtown Minneapolis, has ended with the union pulling out of the restaurant.

Unite Here Local 17 had filed a charge with the National Labor Relations Board saying that Murray's illegally imposed a final contract offer on the nearly 40 union workers.

The NLRB found merit in the charge and issued a complaint against Murray's.

After a hearing on the matter, the union decided to pull out.

A union spokesperson says given efforts by some workers to decertify the union and the possibility of a settlement that would be unsatisfactory to the union, it seemed unwise to spend members' money to fight an uphill battle.

Murray's says the relationship with the union ended August 18th.
