Twin Cities janitors to vote on authorizing strike

Janitors who clean Twin Cities office buildings are set to vote on whether to authorize a strike.

More than 4,000 janitors have been working without a contract since Jan. 8.

On Saturday, the janitors will vote on whether to give their bargaining committee the power to call a strike over alleged unfair labor practices.

The vote starts at 11:30 a.m. at the United Labor Centre in Minneapolis.

U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison and other environmental, labor and community labors are scheduled to join janitors as they take their strike authorization vote.
