The Bach-Mozart Connection

BachMozart with Accordo

Mozart visited Leipzig in the spring of 1789. Part of his plan was to hear the music of J.S. Bach. Astonished by Bach's genius, Mozart asked to visit the St. Thomas library. Imagine Mozart on his hands and knees pulling the various parts of the Bach cantatas and motets together, absorbing as much Bach as he could.

Part of the fruit of that study was a collection of string-trio transcriptions of the Bach Preludes and Fugues. In this week's Regional Spotlight, hear the Bach/Mozart partnership as performed by Accordo.
