Moveable Feast: Open Streets

Moveable Feast: Open Streets

Open Streets Minneapolis is a series of street festivals that take place multiple weekends throughout the summer. The city closes a major road to cars so people can stroll, bike, skateboard, as they sample from food vendors, watch entertainment, and more.

The next edition of the festival takes place in July, on Minnehaha Avenue and part of East Lake Street. In the next few months it heads to University Avenue in Northeast, Franklin Avenue, West Broadway, and Nicollet Avenue.

The Lyndale Open Streets took place a few weeks ago, and it was fun to experience the street at a slower pace. We had lunch at World Street Kitchen, picked up some drinks outside Nightingale, listened to a band, watched a log-rolling demonstration, a water-balloon throwing fundraiser, and a wrestling match.
