As we are losing arts funding in this country, Minnesota is a very lucky state I think we actually have the third highest funding for the arts in the country, but it's still decreasing year by year it seems and many schools that I went to discussed how they had an orchestra program even ten years ago, and they don't have it any longer. So it's very important for me to be involved in bringing arts to children. There's something very special about acoustic and natural sound and learning an instrument that I think is very important at a young stage in one's life. It's surprising how many children had never seen a violin or a bowed string instrument up close. I think the act of showing a child an instrument so close and having them feel the sound coming at them in a powerful experience.
