Listen to the Singers perform the glorious Mass for Double Chorus

The Singers: My Soul's Repose

The Singers: Minnesota Choral Artists gave an extraordinary concert last year, and you can hear it now.

The highlight is one of the gems of 20th-century choral music, Swiss composer Frank Martin's Mass for Double Chorus. Martin wrote it in the 1920s as a kind of a prayer, then he put it in a drawer for 40 years and no one knew about it.

Late in life, he began allowing performances of it and it caught on. For the singers it is incredibly difficult, but for the audience it is utterly glorious.

For the second half of this concert, the Singers wove a spell with a suite of beautiful pieces — two by Minnesota composers — performed without pause on the themes of night, sleep and the majesty of stars.
