What are younger women hearing in the conversation around sexual harassment?

In an article for Rolling Stone this October, writer Carina Chocano predicted that "someday we'll look back on the great Harvey Weinstein scandal of 2017 as the moment the worm turned on the patriarchy, at least for a while."

Since then, even more women have come forward to accuse powerful politicians, entertainers, and media moguls of sexual misconduct. To young women — with long lives ahead of them — does this moment feel big enough to last?

MPR News host Kerri Miller spoke with Chocano, author of "You Play the Girl," and Karla Altmayer, the co-founder and co-director of Healing To Action, about what young women are hearing and thinking in this #MeToo moment.

"The #MeToo moment and the beginning of this public dialogue is really an opportunity to begin a conversation that needs to be happening in our private spaces," Altmayer said. "In our homes, in our workplaces, in our schools, where we're really not translating what this moment means in our daily lives. And I think that's important to do, because for many young women, the solutions have always been individualized."
