Rochester Symphony president steps down amid criminal charges

Jeffery Amundson, president of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, has resigned.

Amundson, who served as the group's president for four years, was placed on paid administrative leave in February after prosecutors charged him with stealing money from a vulnerable adult. On April 1, the board changed his leave to unpaid.

Members of the orchestra and chorale's board of directors announced Monday that they accepted Amundson's resignation.

In a statement, the board of directors expressed their appreciation for Amundson's service and wished him the best. The board and staff will continue to handle the administrative responsibilities while the board finds a new president.

Amundson's next court hearing is scheduled for May 18.
