State investigators are in Columbia Heights gathering evidence in a fatal officer-involved shooting.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Tuesday two officers shot a man with a weapon after he refused orders to show his hands. The officers had responded to a report of a person with a gun at a business in Columbia Heights about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police say it was a housekeeping business.

The BCA says officers encountered the suspect in a hallway inside the main entrance. The BCA says emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for identification and autopsy. Authorities say no one else was injured.

Officials say an officer from Columbia Heights and another from Fridley fired at the man. Both are on administrative leave, per protocol.
