No charges against Minnesota officers in fatal shooting

The Chisago County Attorney's Office said on Friday that a group of officers' use of deadly force was justified in the 2017 death of a North Carolina man.

The incident began on July 10, 2017, when officers responded to a report of a carjacking.

Authorities say 39-year-old Gregory Thrower of North Carolina had stolen a car and was with his daughter.

According to law enforcement, Thrower used the OnStar communications system in the stolen vehicle and asked police to pick up his daughter.

When officers found the car in rural Harris, Minn., they say Thrower pointed a handgun at the officers who all discharged their weapons in Thrower's direction.

The Chisago County Attorney's office determined the group of seven officers from the Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol acted appropriately and will not be charged with a crime.
