VP Biden to attend Joan Mondale service

Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, will be among those paying respects to Joan Mondale at Saturday's memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.

Biden's office also says the vice president will speak at the event. Former President Jimmy Carter, who will be in attendence with his wife, Rosalynn, is also expected to make remarks.

Joan Mondale died Monday at the age of 83.

She was a champion for the arts while her husband served in the U.S. Senate and as vice president, and continued to be an arts advocate throughout her life.

The service will begin at 12:30 on Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Following the memorial, the Mondale family will host a reception at Orchestra Hall.
