What's the economic impact of the AHCA?

The House was expected to vote on the American Health Care Act Thursday, but the vote was delayed as leaders struggled to line up enough votes.

The Republican proposal to replace President Obama's Affordable Care Act needs 216 votes to pass.

The road ahead is rocky.

The AHCA has been harshly criticized by doctors, nurses, Democrats and a contingent of Republicans.

This has put Republican leaders on the offensive; they issued a set of changes to their original proposal earlier this week.

MPR News Host Kerri Miller spoke with NPR Health policy correspondent, Alison Kodjak, and Leighton Ku, Director of the Center for Health Policy Research at George Washington University, about the potential economic impact the proposal could have on voters.

NOTE: This program aired before House leaders delayed the vote on the AHCA.
