Green Line train hits pedestrian

A Green Line train struck a pedestrian around 10 p.m. Saturday night near the intersection of University Ave. and Lexington Parkway.

Metro Transit Spokesman Howie Padilla says the train was headed east when the accident happened.

"It seems from the initial reports that an individual had crossed the track at a spot where clearly people aren't supposed to be crossing," Padilla said. "The individual then was struck by one of the trains. My understanding he's been taken to Regions, and as of this morning, from the information I have, was in stable condition."

Train service was interrupted for about 30 minutes.

The individual's name, age and city of residence have not been released.
