Police ask for public's help in fatal bike accident

Law enforcement is asking for the public's help in tracking down witnesses to a fatal bicycle accident last week in Vadnais Heights.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office says it appears 57-year-old Robert Prudhomme of Cottage Grove was bicycling south on the 4200 block of Centerville Road just after 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.

He was found injured in the roadway.

The sheriff's office says multiple people stopped to give aid, but it is unclear what caused Prudhomme's injury or how he ended up in the roadway. Prudhomme was admitted in critical condition and in a coma. He was taken off life support Friday and died.

The sheriff's office says there was a gray or silver GMC SUV occupied by a couple in their late 50s or early 60s seen near the accident. Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement.
