2 killed in plane crash identified

Witnesses say the small plane that crashed in north central Minnesota, killing two people, appeared to be going "low and slow" before it went down.

Cass County sheriff's officials have identified the two killed Friday when the fixed wing single-engine plane crashed near the Pine River Regional Airport. Forty-three-year-old John Witt was piloting the plane. Stacy Sundquist, 32, was a passenger. Both were from Pine River.

Sheriff Tom Burch told the Brainerd Dispatch fuel leaked from the plane after impact, but did not ignite.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were on the scene during the weekend.
