Woodbury school forfeits football titles over ineligible player

East Ridge High School in Woodbury will forfeit the conference and section football titles it won over the past two seasons because one of its players was ineligible.

A statement from the South Washington County School District says the student never lived at the residence listed on the paperwork his family provided.

The district says it can't release the student's name because of data privacy concerns, but he played varsity football in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

East Ridge coach Mike Pendino says he feels bad for the players, coaches and others in the East Ridge community. He says eligibility and residency issues are vetted by the district, not the football program.

East Ridge was among the top-ranked schools in Class 6A football during the last two seasons.
