6-year-old boy dies on Parley Lake

The Carver County sheriff's office is investigating the death of 6-year-old boy on Parley Lake.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies received a call at about 6:25 a.m. Friday. The department says preliminary information suggests that a boat was adrift from the dock with Hunter Andrew Heyrman on board alone.

The child's father, Chad Heyrman, attempted to swim to retrieve the boat, but was unsuccessful. Sheriff's officials say a short time later the boat was located, but the boy was missing.

Deputies found the boy in the water near the shoreline but he was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The child, who from Saint Bonifacius, was not wearing a life jacket.
