Eagan police kill man reported firing at apartment building

One person is dead after being shot by police in Eagan Sunday.

The shooting took place shortly before noon outside an apartment building on Ironwood Lane. Aaron Machtemes, a spokesman for the Eagan Police Department, said police had received reports of a man standing in a driveway, firing a gun at the apartment building.

Machtemes said there was an exchange of gunfire after officers responded to the call. However, he could not say whether the suspect fired at police.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
