Black Lives-St. Paul stages peaceful protest at marathon

More than 100 people demonstrated at the Twin Cities Marathon Sunday as part of a Black Lives Matter St. Paul protest. There were no arrests at the peaceful demonstration. Earlier in the week Black Lives St. Paul organizer Rashad Turner assured city officials that demonstrators would not disrupt the marathon. At a rally before the demonstration, he urged protesters to remain on the sidelines of the marathon.

"We are not going on the course. If you see someone go on the course, you know they are not a part of this," he said.

Protesters walked through traffic on their way to their designated protesting area. They staged a die-in near the finish line, but did not go on to the marathon course.

Black Lives St. Paul is protesting the death of Phillip Quinn who was shot and killed by police last month. Police are investigation the shooting.
