After a bumpy night, pleasant outlook Tuesday
As severe weather rolled through Minnesota Monday afternoon and evening, many parts of Hennepin county reported large hail. But Chisago county may have seen the largest: Three inch diameter hail was reported around 5 p.m. near Rush City. That's about the diameter of a tennis ball!
Golf ball-sized hail was observed in Plymouth around 4 p.m. A second round of severe storms hit the west metro around 8:30 p.m., with large hail reported in Minnetonka and Eden Prairie. Hail was also reported at the St. Paul Downtown Airport and in Carver county around 8:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued warnings for alternating counties in the Twin Cities metro area for about five hours, beginning in late afternoon.
Tuesday will be much quieter, with hazy sunshine and highs in the 70s. Here is the temperature outlook:
