Theater volunteer Katherine Werner is eagerly anticipating the 42nd annual May Day Parade in Minneapolis this Sunday. Organized by In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre, the neighborhood event brings together people of all ages to create puppets and floats, and each year tens of thousands of winter-weary Minnesotans flock to Powderhorn Park for the annual ritual welcoming spring.

Ukulele and guitar player Emily Youngdahl Wright attended a reading of Amoke Kubat's new play, "Angry Black Woman and Well Intentioned White Girl," last year, and was excited to see the show is being given a full staging at Intermedia Arts this Saturday. Wright says the play is a smart exploration of how "Minnesota Nice" plays out across racial boundaries.

Duluth author Lucie Amundsen couldn't be more thrilled that the show "Seminar" has made its way from Broadway to her local theater. The story revolves around four aspiring authors who sign up for private classes with a renowned writer who has unorthodox methods. Will his students flourish or fail? Reviews called the Pulitzer Prize-winning play both sexy and hilarious. At Renegade Theater through May 14.
