Gov. Mark Dayton says he's disappointed and appalled by the comments that House Republican leaders have made regarding a special session he would like to call to extend unemployment benefits for laid-off mine workers.

Last week, House Speaker Rep. Kurt Daudt said he wanted Dayton to vow not to interfere in the PolyMet mine review and the Sandpiper oil pipeline before Daudt's caucus would agree to a special session.

Dayton called that requirement uncalled-for grandstanding without facts.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Republican House Majority Leader Rep. Joyce Peppin about the outlook for a special session.
