Daily Digest: The day after

Good morning, and welcome to Tuesday.  Bleary-eyed state lawmakers are at home today, not knowing whether they will be called back to St. Paul for another run at some of the issues that failed at deadline time Sunday night. Some members of the media are also still bleary-eyed, so bear with me as we check the Digest.

1. Gov. Mark Dayton says he hasn't decided yet whether to call a special legislative session. As of Monday afternoon he still hadn't received some of the major legislation passed in the closing hours of the session. He says he will decide whether to sign or veto them within 48 hours of getting them, and that he will not use the bills to try to pressure lawmakers to come his way on bonding or transportation funding. He had good things to say about some of the Legislature's work, but he also took some shots at lawmakers. (MPR News)

2. If you haven't seen it yet, here's a list of some of the things that got done during the session and some of the things that didn't. (MPR News)

3. And here's a closer look at what the failure of the public works bonding bill means. Projects around the state won't be funded unless lawmakers can pull things back together and convince the governor to call a special session to pass it. (Pioneer Press)

4. The head of security for the Transportation Security Administration has been removed from his position after a hearing about the agency's management. Kelly Hoggan's removal comes as fliers across the country complain about long lines and slow airport screening. (NPR)

5. Longtime Clinton ally and now Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is under federal investigation for contributions his campaign for governor received. A spokesperson for the governor insists McAuliffe did nothing wrong. (CNN)
