Drying weather for Sunday
Rain gauges were kept quite busy on Saturday.
Saturday's storms brought repeated rounds of torrential rain to much of central Minnesota. Amounts in excess of three inches fell from around Litchfield to Wright and Sherburne Counties and across the northern metro area.
Four inches fell in Monticello while Buffalo got about 5 inches. The official reading at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 2.17 inches.
My backyard rain gauge lagged behind with just 1.27 inches, but that should be enough to make the trees and shrubs happy.

A few stray thunderstorms crossed the state overnight, but they are gone eastward this morning.
A cold front is flushing out the humidity from west to east.
We will be left with sunny skies for the most part, warm temperatures and much lower dew points for this afternoon. A few isolated thunderstorms might break out along the western edge of the state.
High temperatures will range from the upper 70s in the north to the low and mid 80s in the south. The Twin Cities should have a high around 86 degrees.
Monday will be mostly sunny and warm. Tuesday could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the north and west.
An unsettled period of weather statewide will begin Tuesday night. Occasional periods of showers and thunderstorms are likely from then through at least Friday. Temperatures should be near normal for late July.
Enjoy.
