Woman fatally stabbed in downtown Minneapolis; suspect arrested

Police have arrested a 39-year-old woman in connection with Saturday night's fatal stabbing in downtown Minneapolis.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the 800 block of Hennepin Avenue. They found a woman who had been stabbed; she died shortly after arriving at a hospital.

Police spokesperson Darcy Horn said Sunday that it appeared that the stabbing followed an argument "between a group of acquaintances."

Later Sunday, authorities reported that a suspect was arrested based on witness interviews and physical evidence.

The name of the victim has not been released, and police have not released any additional information about the circumstances of the stabbing.
