Those upper 30s and lower 40s really get your attention in late July!

Mild weekend

Most of us will see high temps that are just slightly below normal this weekend, as a high pressure system over the Great Lakes drifts eastward:

The last couple of frames show the rain chances increasing late Sunday into Monday.

Our best rain chances on Saturday will be over northwestern Minnesota, although an isolated shower or thunderstorm could pop up over the southeast.

Mild weekend

High temperatures this weekend will be slightly below normal in many spots.

Saturday highs should be around 80 over the south, with 70s elsewhere:

Highs are just a bit warmer on Sunday:

Dew point temperatures in the lower 60s will be common, although dew points could rise a bit Sunday afternoon.

Dew points in the mid to upper 60s are expected on Monday, and tropical 70s arrive on Tuesday and linger through Wednesday. Highs the Twin Cities rise into the upper 80s on Monday, and we could see lower 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tropical waves

NOAA's National Hurricane Center continues to monitor two tropical waves over the eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean. They have a 20% to 30% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 2 days:

When you look out 5 days, there is a 40% chance that they will become tropical cyclones:

If strengthening occurs as the lead wave moves westward, the Gulf of Mexico could see tropical storm activity later this coming week.
