Two residents, firefighters injured in Minneapolis house fire

Two residents and two firefighters were injured in a fire in the East Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis early Tuesday morning.
The fire, on the 2700 block of 18th Avenue South, was reported at about 3:40 a.m., said Minneapolis Fire Department Capt. Joe Mattison.

When firefighters arrived, the fire had engulfed the front porch and first floor of the house, and was spreading to the second floor.
Firefighters found one victim unconscious in the house with some burns and another resident who had jumped out of a second-floor window to escape the fire. Both residents were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. One victim was listed in critical condition, according to a spokesperson for Hennepin County Medical Center. Fire department officials said they didn't know the condition of the other victim.
The fire department received reports of children living in the house, but Mattison said they were sleeping over at a friend's house when the fire occurred.
Two firefighters were injured during the incident. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene and another was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition.
Firefighters knocked down the fire by 5 a.m. Minnesota Red Cross aid has been requested for the residents.
