Lunds and Byerly's grocery stores have long had the same owner. Now, the 26 stores will have the same name.

Lunds bought Byerly's in 1997 and the grocery stores are now unified in everything from advertising to their private label products. Their common name will be: Lunds & Byerly's.

"We really have created a strong level of unity throughout our company and at this juncture and stage in the life cycle of the company there'll be tremendous unity in our brand names as well," said Tres Lund, president and CEO of Lund Food Holdings.

Lund said a survey found that 95 percent of customers knew Lunds and Byerly's were part of the same company. Lunds was founded in 1939; Byerly's, 1968.
