Mild weekend temps; light snow Sunday evening into Monday
It's great snowman-making weather in north Georgia right now:
From Friday through early Saturday, generous snowfall amounts blanketed much of north Georgia, including parts of Atlanta:
The heaviest snow totals were reported from the center of Atlanta northward:
The Atlanta area averages only about three inches of snow per year, so this is a lot of snow in one storm.

Advisories and warnings
The National Weather Service has issued an assortment of winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories along the east coast for this weekend:
Parts of south Georgia and north Florida have freeze warnings or freeze watches for late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Minnesota snow chances
We'll see occasional flurries this Saturday in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, but we won't be needing our shovels.
Periods of snow are expected across much of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin from Sunday evening into Monday morning.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential snow pattern Sunday evening into Monday:
The color chart to the right of the loop refers to the strength of the signal that returns to the radar, not to the amount of snow.
At this point, it looks like the Twin Cities metro area could get one inch or less of snow, with some two inch amounts possible over parts of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.
Temperature trends
Our Saturday highs will be mostly in the 20s across Minnesota, with some teens to the far north.
Sunday highs will be milder in the south, with many spots in the 30s:
Our average high temp is 29 degrees this time of year in the Twin Cities.
Southern and central Minnesota should see highs in the 30s on Monday:
Twin Cities highs will dip to the mid 20s on Monday, then return to the lower 30s for Wednesday through Friday.
