Best Buy takes down website on Black Friday
The website of Minnesota-based retailer Best Buy was unavailable to customers for more than two hours Friday morning.
"A concentrated spike in mobile traffic triggered issues that led us to shut down BestBuy.com in order to take proactive measures to restore full performance," said Best Buy spokesman Jeffrey Shelman.
The increased traffic came from a high number of shoppers, and was not the result malicious traffic, said Shelman.
Best Buy appears to be the first major site to have crashed on one of the busiest shopping days of the year, according to Re/Code.
