Police say suspect surrenders in NDSU assault case

Police in Fargo say a man wanted in a sexual assault case involving three North Dakota State University students has turned himself in.

KFGO-AM reports that police say the 39-year-old man from rural Cass County was being held Sunday on suspicion of one count of gross sexual imposition, two counts of attempted sexual imposition, and one count of terrorizing.

Police say the three students were attacked Dec. 20 when a man entered an unlocked door of their ground-floor apartment near campus and ordered them to strip at knifepoint. Police say the man sexually assaulted at least one of the women, and one was injured during a struggle.

Interim Police Chief David Todd says officers interviewed the man Friday, but didn't have enough evidence to detain him at the time.
